Cook the rice according to the package instructions.
Coarsely chop the garlic and ginger.
Add the garlic, ginger, and ingredients mentioned below to a blender and blend well.
Chop the onion coarsely, clean and slice the mushrooms, dice the tofu and place everything on different plates.
Heat the canola oil in a non-stick frying pan over high heat. Fry the tofu until golden brown, add half of the sauce, reduce until sticky. Add the sesame seeds, fry for approx. 1-2 minutes and remove from the pan.
Heat the canola oil in the frying pan over medium heat and fry the onions until they turn translucent. Add the mushrooms and fry for 5 minutes. Add the remaining sauce and reduce to about half.
Serve the rice, tofu, and vegetables in a bowl.
